Composed in 1791 The Requiem Mass is a deep personal favourite piece of music for me. The movement Tuba mirum opens with a trombone solo accompanying the bass and is among the most beautiful excerpts for trombone in the orchestral repertoire. Requiem Masses are a passion of mine. I adore the music and language. I have been listening to Mozart’s Requiem since early childhood once a month at a minimum and often daily. This synaesthetic painting portrays the trombone solo and accompanying bass.
Tuba mirum spargens sonum
Per sepulchral regionum
Coget omnes ante thronum.
The trumpet, scattering a wondrous sound
through all the sepulchers of the regions
will summon all before the throne.
