“Cartoon Symphony” artistically joins the forces of art and music. Cartooning in this collection extends beyond the traditional cartoon stereotypes. This exhibition displays not only the super heroes and pop culture but extends to cartoon as a unique art form. I combined the cartoon figure and the accompanying soundtrack. This then progressed from super heroes and their soundtracks to numerous musicians portrayed as a cartoon with a synaesthetic painting of their music.
As a synaesthete artist I paint music that I can see. I have been seeing music for as long as I can remember. My synaesthesia paintings are a signature style. Unique characteristic delicate lines, detailed intricacy and often circles and shapes on a bed of colour. Fields of lines resulting in a sense of movement and three - dimensional landscapes of sound. My work visually displays music which is a distinct form of abstraction.
The addition of cartoon imagery brings a new dimension to my work and allows me to utilise drawing which is the foundation of painting. I employ both traditional and new media in my art practice. Using Acrylic on Canvas and Digital Painting to create new works.
I am honoured to be able to spend my life combining two of my greatest passions. Art and Music. I cannot live without either of them. Creating is a grounding, visceral, intuitive and psychological experience. My heightened sensitivity to sound combined with creative thought and energy has enabled me to translate what I hear, see and feel so intensely into outstanding works of art.
