Art Sonata is a body of works portraying Sound (Music) to Colour Synaesthesia. I painted four works over many months, Beethoven Sonata No.14 “Moonlight”, Shostakovich Sonata for Viola and Piano Op 147, Schumann Piano Quartet Op 47 and Prokofiev Overture on Hebrew Themes. I have captured and portrayed the powerful experience of seeing sound. These paintings were then performed by some of Australia's finest musicians in a concert setting.
Art Sonata brings with it a message of diversity. It reminds us of the fact that we do not all experience our environment or see the world in the same way. We do not feel or experience the same sensations when hearing music. There are so many factors affecting our perception of the visual, auditory, tactile and the vibrational world. My intention when creating these works was to unite people and bring a new perspective to these already brilliant works of music. To share the experience of seeing sound. Come and SEE the Music.
